Wick Weeders

A special thank you to all those that have found the time to keep the garden and the surrounding area trim and hopefully we can look forward to your continued support throughout the year.

Our intrepid weeders, Peter, Nikki & Chris before a hard session, well I assume so as there is no sign of sweat or dirt !! Eric shows an excellent example to the younger volunteers by getting stuck in.Spring is here and there is plenty to do, so why not come along and join in by helping them make the park more attractive. Details are as above.

As I am sure you are aware, there is always plenty of things to do in the garden. The pavilion garden at the Wick Country Park is no exception! The pictures above were taken on Christmas day and whilst after a great deal of hard work to get it to the splendid state it is now in by Nikki & her merry band of "weeders", there is still much to do to keep the garden looking good and to have a fine display in 2012. The small but tenacious group of volunteers who work regularly on the garden need some help. Could you give just a couple of hours of your time? Experience or knowledge of gardening is not necessary as instruction will be given.
To set a regular date, the "weeders" will meet on the 2nd & 4th Monday of every month. The next session being on Monday 13th Februaryfrom 1.30 usually until 4pm meeting at the Pavilion. Equipment and gloves are provided although some of us like to bring gloves and favourite tools of our own. We do general maintenance such as planting, weeding, pruning, clearing the paths. As we are now getting close to having the Pavilion garden under control, we would additionally like to put thought towards making the picnic area more attractive to both people and wildlife. This will obviously need more people to assist with both maintaining the garden along with developing the picnic area, so any help and time you can give would be greatly appreciated during the coming year.
Better than a boring session in the gym, and good for the body and the soul! ( Although coffee and biscuits are provided!). We are a friendly happy group so why not come along one week and see what we are about.
Should you need any futher information or have any ideas regarding the garden or picnic area please contact Nikki on 01268 734293
