Annual Photographic Competition This event was a one-off competition held in 2022 for local amateur photographers, who were permitted to enter up to three photographs taken during calendar year 2022. The intention was to award cash prizes to the winner and runner up in each of two classes - (a) adults, and (b) children aged under 16. Autumn Ramble Enjoy a gentle, leisurely walk around the perimeter of the Country Park, under the leadership of the very knowledgeable Martin Singleton, from the Wickford Wildlife Society. Bat Walks A Saturday evening walk, facilitated by a member of the Essex Bat Group Link [opens in a new window] Link [opens in a new window]
Bird Song Walks A stroll around the Park, under the guidance of Martin Singleton, a member of The Wickford Wildlife Society. Listen out for bird songs and see which species we can spot. Bring Your Own Picnic by The Lake Sit by the lake and see what birds and wildlife there is about whilst enjoying a picnic. Link [opens in a new window] Link [opens in a new window]
Crickets & Dragonflies This event was held from 2008 up to 2016. From 2017, it was incorporated into our 'Nature Quest' event Link [opens in a new window] Link [opens in a new window]
Kites & Classic Cars Kite displays, make and fly a kite; admire up to 12 gleaming classic cars. Also side stalls and refreshments Link [opens in a new window] Link [opens in a new window] Suspended in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic; now suspended due to the withdrawal of the Essex Kite Group and a chronic shortage of volunteers to organise and run it
Moths & Star Gazing Moth Night and Stargazing. This is a joint event with the Wickford Wildlife Society. Link [opens in a new window] Link [opens in a new window]
Monthly Wildlife Walks Organised by Martin Singleton of the Wickford Wildlife Society (WWS). Held monthly, on a Wednesday morning, Martin will be facilitating a sociable and leisurely walk around the Park looking out for, and recording, birds and other wildlife spotted or heard. Nature Event (originally Nature Quest) A FREE day for children to explore some of the nature of the Park, with several different activities to try. Yule Rambles / January Jaunts Enjoy a gentle, leisurely walk around the perimeter of the Country Park, under the leadership of the very knowledgeable Martin Singleton, from the Wickford Wildlife Society.
